How To Deal With Self-Centered People

May 19, 2016 By Chinkee Tan

“Kung AKO yan, kayang-kaya KO yan!”
“Alam mo ba, may bago AKONG gadget!”
“Mamaya ka na, AKO muna mauuna.”

AKO!
AKO!
AKO!

In other words, sila ay self-centered or selfish.

Gustuhin man natin silang baguhin, this may not be the best idea, dahil baka lumala lang ang sitwasyon.

Ano ang dapat gawin?

ACCEPT THE TRUTH

Na kahit anong pilit mo, they will never put other’s needs and concerns before their own.

By accepting this, you won’t focus on the problem but instead, ikaw na mismo ang mag a-adjust dahil alam mo naman na ang kahihinatnan mo.

DON’T STOOP DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL

Yun bang gagantihan mo sila by doing the same thing, as if you don’t care at all. This strategy is reckless and unwise. Do not give them the pleasure of seeing you angry and annoyed. Do not get even with these type of people, but learn how to rise above their level and above the situation. Hindi dapat isuko ang iyong tunay na pagkatao, you should still be the same caring and considerate person that you are.

TALK TO THE PERSON PRIVATELY

Ayain mo siya to a place where you can talk in private, like a coffee shop or tea house, ng sa gayon masabi mo yung nararamdaman mo and at the same time, hindi din siya nahihiyang mag open up sayo.

Start with:
“Is it okay to be honest with you?”
“May gusto sana akong sabihin sayo, may time ka ba?”
“Okay lang kayang makausap kita saglit?”

Be gentle, neutral, and don’t assume that you know the story.

THINK. REFLECT. APPLY.

How can you help the person control his/her attitude?

Be gentle neutral and don't assume that you know the story
