FRIENDSHIP INGREDIENTS

Sa mga kaganapan sa buhay natin, may mga taong
maaari tayong lapitan. Pero napaisip ako, mayroon tayong
tinatawag na family therapy, marriage therapy, individual
therapy, pero bakit walang friendship therapy?

Marahil napakalawak ng konteksto ng pagkakaibigan at ang mga problema na dumarating na related dito ay iba’t-iba ang hugot at timbang.

Kailangan lamang natin alamin ang mga sangkap para
mas mapalalim natin ang ating pagkakaibigan. We need
to develop our friendship skills para mas maging masaya.

Mahalagang maging masaya para mas mahaba ang buhay.

GOOD VIBES

“Oh I love your new haircut!”
“Ang galing mo pala mag-gitara ah.”
“Ang ganda ng speech mo kanina.”

These are simple compliments pero nakagaganda ng araw
natin at nakaka-uplift ng ating morale. Ito yung mga salitang
nagpapaalala ng worth natin dahil naa-appreciate tayo ng ating mga kaibigan.

We don’t want to be with toxic friends, ‘di ba? Sino ba naman
ang gustong kasama ay yung puro negative at puro hindi
maganda ang naririnig natin sa kanya. Dagdag stress ito.

So if we want to be a good friend, we should improve on saying the right things in order to encourage our friends. 

So we also need to be honest with our friends.
Kilalanin din natin yung mga taong tapat sa atin at mapag-
kakatiwalaan sa kahit na anong sitwasyon ng buhay natin.

Kasama na rin dito ang 

CONSISTENCY

Ito naman yung quality time that we spend with our friends.
Yung tipong pagkatapos n’yong magkita-kita, nakagagaan 
ng pakiramdam at mas marami tayong natututunan.

Kaya tayo nakabubuo ng friendship with our officemates,
classmates, churchmates or teammates dahil madalas
natin silang kasama at madalas din nating kakwentuhan.

“So every summer gawin natin ‘tong bonding moments.”
“Ok. Every Saturday gym buddy tayo with our partner.”
“Tara sabay ka na sa ‘min tuwing lunch!”

So nandyan na ang dalawa- masayang kasama at madalas
nating nakakasama. Pero hindi pa rin magiging malalim ang
pagkakaibigan kung wala ang pangatlong ito.

Dito na lalabas ang tiwala natin o kung gaano kagaan ang
pakiramdam natin towards sa tao o sa grupong ito. Dito
rin mas nakikilala natin ang isa’t isa bilang kaibigan.

We lower down our walls and show our vulnerability.

OPENNESS

This is where we share our stories and dreams with a
certain person or group of people. They became our confidants and we reach them to seek advice.

“I need your opinion. Mali ba ako sa ginawa ko?”
“Salamat sa pakikinig. Sa ’yo ko lang ito nasasabi.”
“I think, kailangan ko ng advise mo.”

So these are the ingredients of friendship. Kung iisipin
natin, kailangan ba natin ng kaibigan? Well, our friends
also help us to lessen our loneliness and avoid depression.

At yun ang mahalaga sa buhay natin. For us to have a healthier
life, hindi lang tamang diet at exercise ang kailangan natin.
Kailangan din natin maging masaya at may peace of mind.

So make friends and be a good friend to others. Hindi
lang sa number of friends sa social media ang binibilang
dito, but the real friends that we can truly count on.
